The story
In a hollow under an old birch tree lived a little hedgehog named Moss. As the evening came, Moss went round the forest floor collecting the softest leaves — a red one, a gold one, a curled brown one — and carried them home on his prickly back.
He made a warm nest, patted it flat, and turned around three times the way hedgehogs do. Outside, the owls said their soft who-who, and the trees breathed slowly in the dark.
Moss tucked his little nose under a leaf, felt the whole quiet forest holding him safe, and drifted off to sleep.
