The story
In the corner of a walled garden lived a snail named Pim, who had the slowest and most important job of all: he delivered the goodnight post. Every evening he set out along the mossy path with a tiny leather bag of letters on his shell.
He was never in a hurry, because a goodnight letter cannot be rushed. He left one under the ladybird's leaf, one at the door of the beetle's house, one folded neatly by the sleeping bee. Each one said the same kind thing: rest now, you did enough today.
By the time Pim reached the last letter, the garden was dark and hushed and dotted with dew. He posted it carefully, pulled himself gently into his own cool shell, and — slowly, slowly, the way he did everything — he fell fast asleep.
